Serena received her bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Communications from North Carolina State University in 2014. She went on to complete her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Appalachian State University in 2016. Serena specializes in working with both English and Spanish speaking populations, ranging from birth to school age. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to apraxia, language disorders, mild to severe phonological processing disorders, and pragmatic language disorders in infants, pre-school children, and school-aged children.
For the past five years, Serena has focused her clinical skills on treating patients and families within the ASD population. She completed the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule certification in January of 2019 and became a team member in an interdisciplinary Autism diagnostic team following this certification. In September 2021, Serena gained certification in DIR Floortime and is now a Floortime provider.
In the spring of 2020, Serena introduced the idea of utilizing a green screen as a tool to increase engagement and interest in children in a teletherapy setting. This method has now been widely accepted as an effective distance learning modality across disciplines. Serena has been a guest speaker in various settings, including Moravian College, The Alliance for Early Childhood, and Appalachian State University.
Serena lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and her dog Blackjack. In her free time, Serena enjoys yoga, crafting, and interior decorating.
Kylie received her bachelor’s degree in Community Health with a specialty in disabilities and rehabilitation and healthcare administration in 2012. She went on to complete her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2015. Kylie specializes in working with children ages 0-21.
Kylie has worked in a variety of settings within the past 5 years including: Early intervention, home health, clinic based, and community mental health. She has special interests in sensory processing, trauma informed care, and relationship based treatment. Kylie also has extensive experience working with autistic individuals and is certified in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule. In August 2021, Kylie gained her certification in DIR Floortime and is now a Floortime provider.
Kylie joined Serena in the spring of 2020 as the co-owner of Play Spark. Kylie works behind the scenes to edit YouTube tutorials, design the website, and create digital activities.
Kylie lives in Asheville, NC with her husband and 2 Australian Shepherds, Wally and Luna. Kylie is a plant enthusiast and master DIYer. She loves creating anything with her hands.
